Join us for a hands-on introduction to the fascinating world of wild bees! You’ll learn to recognize some of the most common—and important—pollinators buzzing through Ohio’s gardens and natural areas (did you know there are over 500 species just in Ohio??) . We’ll start with an indoor session covering the basics of wild bee biology, how to distinguish bees from lookalikes, and why native bees are essential to healthy ecosystems and thriving gardens. Then we’ll head outdoors into the vibrant gardens of Franklin Park Conservatory to observe bees in action. We will practice spotting and identifying different bee groups while learning about their behavior, flower preferences, and nesting habits. Whether you’re a gardener, nature lover, or curious beginner, this class will open your eyes to the hidden lives of native bees—and leave you with simple ways to support them at home. What to Bring: Comfortable walking shoes, sun protection, a notebook, and your sense of curiosity! #foogallery-gallery-101121 . fg-image { width: 150px; }
