Mason City Schools will introduce Journey Days starting in the 2025-2026 school year, replacing the former Personal Learning Days. Scheduled for September 26, November 21, February 13, and March 13, these days aim to ignite student curiosity, promote personal growth, and deliver meaningful learning experiences outside of the traditional classroom setting. This change is inspired by community feedback indicating that prior Personal Learning Days were unclear and challenging for families to utilize effectively.
Journey Days will provide clarity, flexibility, equity, and purpose, ensuring that each day is meaningful and manageable for all families. Students can look forward to a diverse array of activities suited to different interests and learning styles, including:
