**Journey Days Overview**
Starting in the 2025-2026 school year, Mason City Schools will launch Journey Days, replacing the previous Personal Learning Days. Scheduled for **September 26, November 21, February 13, and March 13**, these days aim to spark student curiosity, foster personal growth, and provide meaningful learning experiences beyond traditional classroom settings.
The introduction of Journey Days is a response to valuable feedback from families, highlighting the need for clearer and more supportive structures during these days, thereby easing the planning burden on parents. These dedicated days will feature a variety of engaging, age-appropriate activities, including:
- **Career Exploration and Job Shadowing**: Connecting students with community partners for real-world learning.
- **Service Projects**: Opportunities for students to engage in community service with local nonprofits and service organizations.
- **Enrichment Activities**: Hands-on experiences in art, STEM, wellness, and college/career readiness, offered on-site or through approved community organizations.
- **Flexible Scheduling**: Allowing families to customize their participation, enabling students to engage with activities either on the designated day or within a broader timeframe.
To ensure the success of Journey Days, Mason City Schools seeks active involvement from the entire community. In May, families will be invited to contribute by offering mentorship, supporting service projects, and facilitating activities.
