7/25/2025 Washington State Park De Soto, MOJoin us on the fourth Friday of each month for a fun outdoor learning experience! This series will cover both natural and cultural topics, and some programs will feature guest presenters. Each session will take place at the campground amphitheater at 2 p. m. These events are free and open to the public, and there is no need to register. More details will be announced on Facebook on the day of each program. Series Schedule: May 23: Native Plants Learn about the importance of native plants and how you can incorporate more natives into your garden. Take the opportunity to plant native seeds in a small pot to bring home with you! June 27: Nature Paint Party Join park staff for a paint party! Follow the interpreter's step-by-step tutorial to create a unique nature-inspired art piece to bring home with you. July 25: Technical Backpacking Listen to accounts from an avid hiker and backpacker. Get an introduction to technical backpacking and tips on gear selection, route planning and backwoods survival. Aug. 22: Wildlife Rehabilitation Learn about the importance of wildlife rehabilitation and how you can support local rehabilitation efforts! Sept. 26: Petroglyph Research Listen to a presentation about the petroglyphs at Washington State Park and the connections between this site and other Native American archaeological sites.
