Instrumentalists, singers and audience members are welcome to join us for Irish tunes right in The Shop at Queen City Music Studios on 1st and 3rd Wednesdays, from 7-9pm *starting back up in MARCH!* This session is for learning tunes at slower tempos, novice players, and those willing to play more slowly so others can learn. Doug Sheridan STILL hosts Irish Music Sessions at Marino's on 1st & 3rd Thursdays from 7-9pm. Intermediate and advanced players are welcome to join this session! This free community offering will likely continue bi-weekly if there is enough interest! Donations are graciously accepted! ($10-20 suggested donation) More about Doug: Doug Sheridan’s musical roots are in the Ozarks and Missouri fiddling and got his first lessons from family friend and Rounder Records artist Art Galbraith. Early on, Doug expanded his taste in music to include tunes from the British Isles. He toured Ireland in the 80’s and took lessons from Kevin Burke and Liz Carrol at Elkins College. Soon, he and two others started a Contra Dance band called “The Jig Is Up” that played dances from Baltimore to Atlanta for over 15 years. "We had dance couples meet at our dances, marry, and have children that later danced to the Jig is Up as well." Doug recently accepted a position on the board for the Blue Ridge Irish Music School, and is the owner at Sunspots Studios Glassblowing in Downtown Staunton, VA. Interested in learning one-on-one?
