The Grand Opening of the Pillsbury Creative Commons (PCC) is set for July 26th, showcasing a transformative new space dedicated to community-oriented innovation and the arts. Noël Raymond, Sr Director of Arts and Culture at Pillsbury United Communities (PUC), expresses excitement about this bold vision, which emphasizes access and co-creation for a just society. The 4,495 square foot facility, designed by Gensler, features three studios for KRSM 98.9 FM, offering local storytellers and emerging voices vital resources for sharing their narratives. Adjacent to these studios is the Scene Shop, which will support PCC’s Technical Arts Training (TAT) program, led by André Samples. This fully paid, hands-on program trains community members in high-demand technical trades like carpentry and sound design while providing apprenticeships and job placement assistance. Additionally, youth from the summer Step-Up internship program and local creators will utilize this space to develop new skills and launch careers in the creative arts, marking an important step in a larger commitment to community investment.
