Join us for an exciting weekend of paddle sports on two rivers, perfect for paddlers looking for adventure and camaraderie!
**Floating the Missouri River**: We will kick off the event with a required still water training session on Friday night at 6 PM at Belcher Branch Lake boat ramp. This session will cover essential paddling skills and safety concerns for the upcoming float on Saturday. On Saturday morning, participants will gather at French Bottom Access in St. Joseph at 9 AM to organize our shuttles. We will then head to Nodaway Island Access to begin our 12-mile float down the Missouri River, departing at 10 AM and concluding around 3-4 PM. Participants should bring their own water, snacks, lunch, sunscreen, and wear appropriate clothing as we expect to get wet and muddy.
**Float the Mississippi River**: For the more experienced paddlers, we also offer a chance to canoe or kayak on the majestic Mississippi River. Participants must register online and attend a mandatory safety briefing on Friday evening from 6:00-7:30 PM at the Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center. This float will take place on Saturday, where we will navigate 13 river miles from Trail of Tears State Park to Red Star Access, with expert guides available to enhance your experience. Participants must have at least one year of experience paddling similar rivers and should bring their own lunch, snacks, drinks, and appropriate footwear for the journey.
Both events promise exciting outdoor experiences with the necessary safety briefings to ensure a fun and safe time on the water!
