Join us for an unforgettable paddle sports experience on two of America's iconic rivers! Choose between the Mississippi River and the Missouri River, each offering unique adventures for experienced paddlers.
**Paddle Sports: Float the Mississippi River** invites you to navigate from Trail of Tears State Park to Red Star Access. This 13-mile journey will feature expert guidance, a safety briefing on Friday, September 5 from 6:00-7:30 PM at the Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center, and practical insights on river hazards. Participants must have at least one year of experience paddling on rivers and are required to wear personal flotation devices. Don’t forget to bring your lunch, snacks, water, and suitable clothing for the warm September weather.
Alternatively, **Paddle Sports: Floating the Missouri River** offers a Saturday float from Nodaway Island Access to French Bottom Access near St. Joseph. Join us for a mandatory still water training session on Friday at 6:00 PM at the Belcher Branch Lake boat ramp. This training is essential for all participants. On Saturday, we’ll meet at French Bottom Access at 9:00 AM for a shuttle to the starting point, where canoes, paddles, and PFDs will be provided. Bring your own refreshments and prepare to get wet while enjoying a 12-mile float.
Both events guarantee thrilling outdoor experiences, and participants must adhere to registration protocols. Ensure you are equipped with the necessary supplies and gear for a safe and enjoyable day on the water!
