NAMI Southwest Ohio invites you to a special afternoon at Transform on Saturday, August 2, from 3–5 PM with award-winning LGBTQ+ journalist and author Nico Lang. Nico is the author of American Teenager: How Trans Kids Are Surviving Hate and Finding Joy in a Turbulent Era—a vivid and moving portrait of eight trans and nonbinary teens growing up in today’s America, navigating their identities with courage, resilience, and joy. As an acclaimed LGBTQ+ reporter and editor, Nico’s work has appeared in The New York Times, Rolling Stone, Teen Vogue, NPR, The Guardian, VICE, Esquire, HuffPost, and many more. Their powerful storytelling and advocacy have earned them national recognition for elevating the voices of marginalized communities. Now, as part of their Midwest book tour, Nico is making a special stop in Cincinnati to connect directly with our community. By highlighting the voices of trans youth and their experiences, this event will help reduce stigma, foster empathy, and provide families with the resources they need to support their loved ones.
