Join us for two engaging exhibitions at the Loveland Museum, celebrating both the history of electric power in Loveland and the mythic portrayal of the American West.
**100 Years of Power** runs from June 13 to October 18, with an opening reception on June 13 from 6 - 8 pm during Night on the Town. This multimedia exhibit commemorates the centennial anniversary of electric power in Loveland, highlighting the journey that began in 1925 with the Idylwilde Hydroplant. Through its evolution, Loveland Water and Power has served over 42,000 homes and businesses, showcasing the city's resilience and commitment to sustainable energy.
Alongside this, **Gary Emrich: Firewater Suite**, on display from May 9 to September 13 in the Mezzanine Gallery, challenges traditional Western myths through an artistic juxtaposition of vintage liquor decanters and contemporary water bottle labels. Emrich’s work offers a humorous and critical perspective on the idealized representation of the American West, inviting viewers to reconsider historical narratives.
Together, these exhibits provide a thought-provoking blend of local heritage and cultural commentary.
