New Year's Day Chakra Balancing with Maureen Agnello Thursday, January 1st - 3pm - 5pm $30 Cash on arrival Venmo @Mary-Veal (note event and date) Zelle maryvealyoga@gmail.com (note event and date) Begin your new year with a two hour gentle yoga practice, a combination of meditation, mudra, pranayama, and a Yin-Restorative Sequence which will include poses to target each of the seven chakras. This introspective, meditative experience will allow you to drop into the parasympathetic nervous system, encouraging the body to relax deeply as you clear mental and emotional blockages in the seven energy centers known as the chakras. In Sanskrit, the word "Chakra" means "wheel". These wheels of spinning energy each correspond to certain nerve bundles, major organs and mental/emotional states, acting like the “computer software” of the body. The chakras are organizational centers for the reception, assimilation, and transmission of life force energy. They are the stepping stones between heaven and earth. The Yin-Restorative poses are done seated or lying down, with the support of props for comfort and individualized modification. Yin yoga stretches the fascia and lengthens connective tissue, improving elasticity and nourishing the joints. Energetically, Yin Yoga strengthens energy channels/meridians which ultimately support the organs, immune system, and emotional well being. The slow pace of Yin-Restorative Yoga encourages the body to relax deeply, releasing tension and emotional blocks held in the tissue, to allow for more profound change.
