Who We Are: We are a nonprofit organization formed by members of the community who want to keep an independent cinema alive in our community as a venue not just for movies but also for other artistic endeavors, including performing arts, amateur film, concerts, lectures, etc. The nonprofit board is composed of members who work with the community to identify new opportunities. What We Do: Along with playing first-run movies at a reasonable price, we provide the community with various film-based artistic and educational events, and function as a hub for arts and culture in Milford, Michigan and the surrounding area. Our Origins: The Huron Valley Film Organization was founded in September of 2020, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. The organization's goal was to save the cinema after its original owners, The Henn Family, announced they would no longer continue operating the space. The HVFO took over the lease and refurbished the interior with the help of local businesses, sponsors, and many volunteers from the community. Our Grand Opening was May 12, 2021 as a community-based nonprofit, meaning all revenue and donations will be directly invested in the continual operation of the cinema. As a nonprofit organization, the Milford Independent Cinema is a project drive by true community investment. The greater the community contribution, the more we are able to do. Where We Are Located: The Milford Independent Cinema is located at 945 East Summit, Milford, Michigan. Information can be found online at milfordcinema.org. Why We Are Doing This: To bring our community together with the common threads of movies, arts and culture. Donate, stay connected and learn more via our website milfordcinema.org.
