The Paul Leskowicz Quartet is thrilled to have two very special guest artists, Steve Davis and Jason Kush, join them for an evening of jazz. From standards to originals, Jason and Steve bring an incredible depth and soulfulness of music, rich in the traditions of lyrical and hard-swinging style. Steve Davis, trombone, is widely regarded as one of today’s leading voices on the trombone. Currently, Steve is a full professor of music at Berklee College of Music and an active performer, having appeared on over 100 recordings with artists including Chick Corea, Freddie Hubbard, Horace Silver, Cedar Walton, and Hank Jones. Steve was Art Blakey’s last trombonist with the Jazz Messengers and has since performed with a who’s who of Jazz legends. He continues to perform internationally with Dizzy Gillespie’s All-Stars as well as his own groups, including his acclaimed sextet, We See All-Stars, which includes Eddie Henderson, Ralph Moore, Renee Rosnes, Essiet Essiet, and Lewis Nash. www.stevedavismusic.com Jason Kush is an active saxophonist, educator, and scholar, having performed as a soloist throughout the U. S. , Europe, Central, and South America. Currently, he is a professor of music at Slippery Rock University and an Artist Lecturer at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA. Kush has worked with the Woody Herman Orchestra, Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra, Arturo Sandoval, Christian McBride, Benny Golson, Sean Jones, Dave Koz, and many others. Kush’s solo discography includes recordings on MCG Jazz, New Focus Records/Naxos, and Armazi Productions.
