Join us for "Workforce Partners: What Employers Need To Know" on Thursday, August 21st, a vital session for employers, HR professionals, and community leaders focused on the upcoming changes to the Indiana high school diploma and their implications for workforce development, internship programs, and hiring strategies. Experts from key organizations, including the Indiana Department of Education, Indiana Chamber of Commerce, Richard M. Fairbanks Foundation, Ascend Indiana, and Conexus Indiana, will discuss the updated graduation requirements and how businesses can contribute to student success and talent pipeline development.
With an estimated 200-225 students in Decatur County needing work-based learning hours to graduate, there are numerous opportunities for local businesses to engage and mentor the future workforce. Attendees will gain insights into the new diploma structure, the definition of work-based learning, and effective ways to host internships, job shadows, and mentorships. This session will equip you with the clarity and actionable steps necessary to thrive in the competitive labor market, whether you’re currently offering opportunities or considering starting.
The event is open to the public, and lunch will be provided. Due to limited seating, RSVP is required, and cancellations are not accepted. Members and non-members can attend for free. If you cannot attend, please notify the GDC Chamber of Commerce at least 24 hours in advance or arrange for someone to take your place.
