Join us for the opening celebration of the international gallery exhibit, 'Suspicious Universe,' on Saturday, July 12, from 4:00-6:00 pm, featuring works by Ukrainian illustrator and visual storyteller Maryna Polonska. Her characters - fruits with attitudes, wandering planets, and deeply suspicious vegetables - offer a humorous yet heartfelt reflection on the absurdities of daily life. With sharp wit wrapped in bold colors, her art is a warm rebellion against apathy. At first glance, her art may seem like regular fruits and veggies doing silly things. But look again—and you'll discover quiet metaphors about community, inner weirdness, resilience, and joy in these strange times. Maryna's universe is both suspicious and kind - just like our own. This exhibition is also a love letter to those without a voice. As war continues to impact Ukraine, countless animals have been left injured, scared, and without homes. Maryna will be donating a portion of her sales to animal shelters, providing food, shelter, and medical care to these animals. Inspired by her compassion, the Granville Center for the Arts will also donate 100% of our portion of any sales to a shelter in Kharkiv that rescues animals from active war zones. About the artist: Maryna Polonska is a Ukrainian illustrator, animator, and graphic designer currently living in Spain. She creates visual worlds filled with odd, gentle, and slightly absurd characters. After years in the commercial design industry, she transitioned to freelance illustration, where her "Suspicious Universe" came to life. Her work is defined by bold colors, soft sarcasm, and stories that live somewhere between the silly and the sincere. Instagram: www.instagram.com/iampolonska/
