In The Ballad of Wallis Island, lottery winner Charles decides to bring his favorite musical duo to the remote island where he lives for a private concert. Problem one: the duo are a formerly married couple who haven’t worked together in years and don’t realize that they’re supposed to perform together until they arrive separately at the island. Writer and co-star (alongside Carey Mulligan) Tom Basden transcends a merely quirky premise to achieve something charming and deeply felt with "Wallis Island."
