The Gaithersburg Community Museum, located in the restored 1884 B&O Railroad complex in Olde Towne, Gaithersburg, Maryland, offers a dynamic transportation and history experience for all ages. Its mission is to share the history and culture of Gaithersburg in an accessible and engaging manner, fostering curiosity, reflection, and a connection to the community. The museum features indoor and outdoor interpretive spaces, including the Freight House and rail cars, which explore the city's rich history with hands-on learning centers for children. The complex also includes the Station, an active commuter stop with dining and restroom facilities, and outdoor interpretive spaces showcasing historical rolling stock. The museum aims to be a place where everyone can find value, building community through its exhibits and programs, which focus on local and general history, STEM activities, and edutainment. The museum was started in 1988 by the Gaithersburg Historical Association and is now operated in partnership with the City of Gaithersburg.
