Pinch, coil, and slab- build your way through 4 weeks of exciting clay classes at Erie ClaySpace. 4-Week Intro to Handbuilt Ceramics Join us at Erie ClaySpace for a hands-on and fun-filled event where you'll learn the art of handbuilding ceramics. Over the course of four weeks, our experienced instructors will guide you through the basics of creating beautiful pottery using your own two hands. From pinch pots to slab construction, you'll explore various techniques and unleash your creativity. Whether you're a beginner or have some pottery experience, this class is perfect for anyone looking to dive into the world of ceramics. Don't miss out on this exciting opportunity to get your hands dirty and bring your own unique clay creations to life! What: 4-Week Pottery Wheel Class. Instructor: Caelin McDaniel When: Meets every Wednesday morning from January 7th to January 28 from 11-1 pm Where: Erie ClaySpace, 1505 State ST, 3rd Floor of the PACA building, Erie, PA 16501. *Accessing the studio: Please call us at (814) 520 5089 when you arrive. The front doors to the PACA building are locked. We will buzz you in. Please join us for your class on the third floor. *Accessibility: If you require the use of an elevator (we are on the third floor), please let us know ahead of time at info@erieclayspace.com, and we will have someone assist you with it. (The elevator is old-fashioned, and you cannot call it with a button.) More info: Demonstrations will occur at the beginning of each session, followed by group exercises, and one-on-one guidance. Students will be able to handle their pieces through the entire ceramic process, starting from a lump of clay all the way through to glazing. Topics include learning how to wedge clay and exploring various hand-building techniques like coil construction and slab building. By the end of the class, you’ll have a good understanding of basic ceramic studio practices, and you will learn what's needed to become a member of Erie ClaySpace! The class fee includes 12 pounds of clay , all glazing materials, firings, and additional practice hours in the studio. Extra clay is available for purchase as needed. Ages 13 to adult. The class is limited to 15 students. Instructor: Caelin McDaniel Open Studio: In addition to class time, students will have access to the studio from 12-2 pm each Saturday while class is in session. This open studio time is supervised but instruction is offered only during class time. Notes: We reserve the right to postpone or cancel classes that do not meet the minimum enrollment of 5 students. If a class is canceled by Erie ClaySpace, you have the option to transfer to another similar class or have your tuition refunded in full. Refunds are available with proper notice. We are unable to give a refund for this class that is not requested at least one week before the start of the first class. Processing fees may apply. Refunds are not given for missed classes.
