Details:
The Vienna Boys Choir, one of the oldest and most renowned choirs globally, has its roots in Vienna’s Imperial Chapel dating back to at least 1296. Officially established in 1498 by Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I, the Choir has evolved into a private, non-profit organization offering choral music education to 330 boys and girls aged six to nineteen, promoting inclusivity regardless of background. The Choir, recognized as a UNESCO cultural heritage site, performs nearly 300 concerts annually, drawing almost half a million attendees, and has undertaken over 1,000 tours across 100 countries since 1924, resulting in around 29,000 performances. They regularly sing mass with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and the Vienna State Opera's men's chorus and have collaborated with esteemed conductors. The Vienna Boys Choir also partners with UNICEF and other charities. In 2023, it celebrated its 525th anniversary with significant releases celebrating its history, and in 2024, they jointly received the European Culture Award with the Vienna Girls Choir. Under the artistic direction of Erasmus Baumgartner and presidency of Erich Arthold, the Choir continues to thrive in the world of choral music. For more, visit www.viennaboyschoir.net.
