Join us at Queermunity on Friday, January 9th, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm for the opening reception of our new installation, featuring the incredible artwork of Kelly Ristau. Meet the ArtistsKelly Ristau's work explores the nuances of queer intimacy, noting that this intimacy is a very personal thing toward both ourselves as individuals and others that cross our paths. Ristau defines intimacy as a deep trust required to share one's mind, body and soul with another person. That same intimacy and trust within oneself to be true to who you are. At the same time Ristau's work presents a commentary on the negative impact dating apps and social media have on intimacy. Her linocut prints locate intimate moments and shallow them down through methodical line work, stepping away from the fast paced worlds of modern intimacy. She asks the viewers to ponder: What does it mean to know and truly be known by someone? And, How have relationships changed with the technology of today?
