Join us on November 8th, from 12 PM to 3 PM, for a unique and engaging Eel Trap Basket Weaving Workshop at the Berks History Center. Led by Education Curator Vicky Heffner, this workshop offers participants the opportunity to recreate a colonial eel trap, a fascinating piece of history once used to capture the eel—a fish renowned for its distinct and beautiful flavor, sweet and similar to lobster. While eel traps are not commonly used today, this workshop provides a chance to craft a fun and intriguing conversation piece that reflects the rich culinary traditions of the past. Whether you're an experienced artisan or a curious novice, this workshop welcomes all skill levels. The cost is $50 for BHC Members and $60 for Non-Members. Don't miss this opportunity to delve into an intriguing aspect of historical craftsmanship and leave with your own handcrafted eel trap. Spaces are limited, so be sure to reserve your spot today for a creative afternoon exploring history through hands-on art. We look forward to welcoming you for this captivating journey into the past! Off-street parking is available in the BHC's parking lot, located at 160 Spring Street, Reading, PA 19601.
