Join us for "Beyond the Big House: The Unheard Voices of a Mid-Atlantic Plantation," a bus trip exploring the powerful narratives of enslaved, indentured, and free Black individuals associated with the historic estate of John Dickinson at Poplar Hall in Dover, DE. This visit highlights their critical contributions to the history of this Early Georgian mansion, built in 1739 on a 13,000-acre plantation. We will also travel to Mt. Harmon Plantation in Maryland, where reconstructed slave quarters and a tobacco barn offer deeper insights into the lives of those who worked on the estate. The trip includes lunch, with costs set at $185 for BHC Members and $210 for Non-Members. Details about pickup locations and times will be provided soon.
