Attendees of the two-day “Wilderness Survival 101” course will immerse themselves in primitive, natural-resource‐based survival skills—many used by indigenous peoples for hundreds of thousands of years at Earth Native Wilderness School near Bastrop, Texas.
Over the weekend, participants engage in both lecture and hands-on activities, building core competencies such as creating fire by friction, building shelters from natural materials, trapping small game, identifying edible and medicinal plants, collecting and purifying water, making rope from plants, basic land navigation using sun and stars, and assembling a survival kit for car or backpack.
The experience is designed to not only prepare individuals for unexpected emergencies or outdoor survival scenarios, but also to enhance family camping trips and outdoor adventures.
The course is open to ages 12 and up (with those under 14 needing to participate alongside an adult). Camping option is available.
