Founded in 1979, the Friends of the Athens County Public Libraries is a voluntary, non-profit organization whose purpose is to support programming and services at all branches of the Athens County library system. The organization raises money through membership dues, monetary donations, and the sale of donated books at their permanent book store which located at the Athens Public Library.
